Kameko Nichols

Based in Cambodia, Kameko Nichols is GaneshAID’s affiliated expert with technical expertise in the field of health supply chain and logistics. She has more than 10 years working under public health projects targeted to low- and middle-income countries and also at global level.

Kameko previously worked for Riders for Health, a transport management company for health systems, for six years as the Partnership Director, before becoming a consultant. Her first project as a consultant was with UNICEF Supply Division (SD) re-designing the transport module for the Effective Vaccine Management Assessment (EVMA) 2.0. She also worked with UNICEF SD on system design and vaccine distribution in Lesotho, Liberia and Myanmar. Since then, Kameko has also supported WHO on the continuous improvement plan (cIP) development guidance and has been on the pre-review team for the GAVI Cold Chain Equipment Optimization Platform (CCEOP).

Kameko also has significant technical expertise in the area of transporting patient specimens for disease surveillance, emergency response, diagnosis and patient monitoring. She has spent over 10 years assessing, designing, implementing and evaluating specimen referral networks sub-nationally and nationally across 18 countries in sub-Saharan Africa and south Asia. As part of this work, Kameko helped develop global and country-level guidance and the first specimen referral toolkit. She has also supported ministries of health in managing laboratory equipment, including negotiating service contracts and reagent rental agreements.

Prior to working in public health, Kameko also worked in investment banking/finance.

She has an educational background in biology and religion.
