Recently in Mali, the Mali’s Learning Hub Project (Centre d’Apprentissage pour l’Équité en Vaccination – CAPEV) conducted the second phase of its implementation research across Bougouni (Sikasso), Ségou, Niono, and at the national level. The mission covered 2 Regional Health Directorates (DRS), 3 health districts, and 6 Community Health Centers (CSComs), involving 9 investigators and 4 supervisors.

A total of 30 interviews with EPI managers and staff were carried out to assess the progress and effectiveness of C2P (a tool that measures health programmes’ performance and coaches health workers individually), which in Mali is available in mobile and desktop formats. Through individual interviews, the mission gathered evidence on how C2P has been applied in daily practice to strengthen staff performance and improve service delivery.

The findings highlighted tangible effects on immunization services:
- “Overall, C2P is well regarded by EPI actors in the Niono health district.” – Chief Medical Officer, Niono
- “After the debriefing, staff embraced C2P as a tool that reinforces their skills and contributes to improving EPI indicators.” – DTC, CSCom Cinzana Gare
- “The introduction of C2P has enhanced the organization of vaccination sessions and facilitated better communication with mothers and communities.” – Vaccinator, CSCom Pelengana Nord
This phase in Mali confirms C2P’s acceptance and practical benefits across CSComs, districts, and at the national level. The insights generated will guide future implementation strategies, with GaneshAID and its partners working to further strengthen immunization services and support health workers. The project is funded by Gavi Secretariat and conducted under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and Social Development and the National Immunisation Center (CNI) in Mali.

Looking ahead, Phase III will evaluate immediate outcomes at the health service level, including EPI staff performance, service quality, beneficiary satisfaction, and challenges in implementing EPI activities, providing evidence to further optimize C2P and strengthen Mali’s immunization system.
