ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project aims to develop a detailed landscape report that maps out current and emerging newborn health products and service delivery innovations, with a strong focus on improving care for small and vulnerable newborns in low- and middle-income countries. This work will assess tools used for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, identify gaps and opportunities, and support Unitaid’s efforts to accelerate access to life-saving innovations for newborn health.
Working Arrangement:
This consultancy is fully remote, with all work conducted through desk research and regular virtual coordination with GaneshAID’s Team.
Project Duration:
The assignment is expected to run from early January to late April 2026, covering approximately four months from inception to final presentation.
1.Team Lead / Principal Investigator (Newborn Health & Global Public Health Specialist)
Role Purpose
Provide overall leadership, technical guidance, and quality assurance for the development of the newborn health products and service delivery innovations landscape for LMICs, ensuring alignment with Unitaid’s expectations and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior-level review of all analyses, ensuring high-quality of technical content and presentation
- Lead the development, synthesis, and finalization of the landscape report and accompanying presentation.
- Coordinate closely with focal points through regular calls and email communication throughout the assignment.
- Oversee methodology design, technical accuracy, and integration of stakeholder feedback.
- Ensure timely submission of all deliverables, in alignment with required deadlines for the landscape outline, draft versions, final report, and presentation.
- Supervise team performance, project risks, and communication workflows.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Advanced university degree in public health, medicine, or equivalent.
- 8–10 years of experience in global public health.
- At least 8 years of experience producing technical reports and communication materials for diverse audiences.
- Minimum 8 years in maternal & newborn health (MNH), focused on LMIC settings, with an established network across industry, academia, international agencies, and government.
- Proven experience in horizon scanning for new technologies in global health.
- Experience in managing and coordinating multi-disciplinary consultancy teams.
2. Senior Newborn Health Technical Expert
Role Purpose
Serve as the primary technical expert on newborn health, ensuring accuracy, depth, and relevance of technical content related to products, tools, and service delivery innovation in LMIC newborn care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical review and synthesis of newborn health tools, diagnostics, devices, service delivery innovations, and implementation models.
- Assess prevention, diagnosis, and management strategies for the major causes of neonatal morbidity and mortality (prematurity, intrapartum asphyxia, newborn infections).
- Provide expert interpretation of evidence, guidance documents, programmatic experience, and clinical practices across LMICs.
- Draft major technical sections of the landscape report.
- Contribute to stakeholder mapping and engagement, leveraging an established MNH network.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Advanced degree in public health or medicine.
- 8–10 years of global public health experience.
- At least 8 years working on MNH in LMICs, including programmatic, clinical, or implementation experience.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality technical analyses and reports.
- Established professional connections in MNH research, implementation, and policy.
3. Horizon Scanning & Innovation Specialist
Role Purpose
Identify, assess, and map emerging technologies and innovations relevant to newborn health, ensuring accurate and forward-looking landscape of product development and service delivery solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct horizon scanning for new global health technologies and innovations with relevance to newborn care.
- Map innovation pipelines across diagnostics, therapeutics, devices, digital tools, and service delivery models.
- Identify barriers, enablers, and market dynamics affecting innovation readiness.
- Collaborate with the Senior Technical Expert and Health Economist to integrate market and feasibility insights.
- Contribute to the PowerPoint summary and evidence visualizations.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Advanced university degree in public health, biomedical sciences, or equivalent.
- 8–10 years of global public health experience.
- Proven horizon scanning experience, specifically mapping emerging technologies in global health.
- At least 8 years MNH-related experience (programmatic, R&D, innovation systems).
- Strong network with innovators, academia, industry, and development stakeholders.
4. Market Access Specialist (MNH-focused)
Role Purpose
Analyze product access pathways, market barriers, regulatory considerations, supply chain issues, and pricing/affordability factors affecting newborn health innovations in LMICs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess market dynamics and product availability for newborn health tools and technologies.
- Evaluate procurement systems, commodity financing, supply chain bottlenecks, and regulatory issues relevant to MNH products.
- Support identification of market-shaping opportunities aligned with Unitaid’s strategic mission.
- Contribute to sections on feasibility, scalability, and affordability of innovations.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Advanced university degree in public health, health economics, policy, or related field.
- 8–10 years of experience in global public health.
- Desirable experience: MNH product access, market shaping, procurement, medicine regulation, commodity financing, supply chain management.
- Experience writing analytical reports for global donors, UN agencies, or ministries.
5. Project Manager/ Coordinator (Global Health & MNH Experience)
Role Purpose
Ensure smooth project execution, communication, risk management, and administrative coordination between the consultancy, GaneshAID and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary coordination point onbehalf of the team (scheduling, documentation, follow-up).
- Manage timeline compliance, document version control, and team workflow.
- Track level of effort (LOE) and prepare inputs for progress invoices per financial requirements.
- Support preparation of drafts at each stage and monitor progress toward deliverable deadlines.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Advanced degree in public health, global development, or project management.
- 8+ years experience working in global health project coordination, preferably in MNH.
- Experience managing multi-person teams in fast-paced consultancy environments.
- Familiarity with UN agency reporting practices.
