With the financial and technical support from department partners, the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene (Le Ministère de la Santé et de l’Hygiène Publique (MSHP)) of Cote d’Ivoire created the National Commission for the Coordination of Supply of Essential Medicines and Strategic health products in Côte d’Ivoire (CNCAM-CI) at Decision Number No. 134 / MSLS / CAB of 20 March 2015.

The CNCAM-CI includes five technical committees including committees of strategic health products for HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis and tuberculosis, the Technical committee for logistics management of strategy medicines and health products for mothers and child health, reproductive health and family planning, the technical committee for logistics management of vaccines and health products for vaccination, the technical committee for logistics management of other essential medicines and other strategic health products.


The five committees ensure the process of strengthening the supply chain undertaken by the ministry of health in Cote d’Ivoire.

The Technical Committee for Logistics Management of Vaccines and Health Products for Vaccination, called “CTGL Vaccination”, has the functions of quantification; monitoring of logistics; and the early warning system (SAP) of vaccines and health products for vaccination.

In order to strengthen the availability and efficiency of the CTGL Vaccination, improving the availability and efficiency of the supply chain to maintain the availability of vaccines in good condition on a continuous basis, a country support to strengthen the functions of the working group was conducted.

GaneshAID’s senior health system strengthening specialist as UNICEF consultant provided technical support for developing and organizing a landscape analysis to identify the current situation, functions and roles of CTGL Vaccination committee.

In the perspective of strengthening the capacities of operation and performance of the CTGL-Vaccination, a workshop was organized in Bassam from 9 – 12 May, 2017.

The overall objective of the workshop is to improve the operational and performance capacities of CTGL-Vaccination.

The specific objectives assigned to date are:

  • Validate the main results of the situational analysis of the CTGL-Vaccination of Côte d’Ivoire;
  • Achieve consensus on the biennial plan for strengthening the CTGL-Vaccination and its timetable for implementation;
  • Update the terms of reference of the CTGL-Vaccination;
  • Develop / adapt the mechanism and tools of the CTGL-Vaccination;
  • Specify the technical capacity of the CTGL-Vaccination to issue recommendations based on an LMIS-vaccination performance;
  • Establish a mechanism for monitoring and evaluating the performance of the CTGL.

The workshop welcomed the participations of representatives from MoH, DGS, PNDAP, CN-CAM, DCPEV, CTGL (PNS, NPSP, CNTS), ,developments partners including WHO and UNICEF, and AMP – a French NGO.
